Have you ever been in the company of someone who exudes Light? It shines forth from their eyes and skin. They glow. There’s flow in everything they do and don’t do. It’s not about doing. It’s about being. Being the Light. Simply being in the company of such Beings is a de’light’ful experience, regardless of what the experience may be.

Yesterday I needed to have another tooth extracted. My dental history is a dire story, one I wish to spare you. Let’s just sum it up by saying I have experienced enough dental pain and trauma to last many lifetimes. Needless to say I’m always very nervous when having to undergo more dental surgery.

Yesterday I walked into a crisp, sterile, white and green environment charged with focus and purpose. A tray revealing far too many very shiny metal instruments had my heart racing and my imagination running away with me. While observing efficient looking nurses doing the final preparations, my palms moistened and my mouth suddenly felt far too dry. All was somewhat too serious and then the surgeon walked in.

Suddenly the room lit up. It was as if a thousand watt light, the one they use during photo shoots, had been switched on. The moment our eyes connected I felt at peace. They communicated unshakeable confidence and warm sincerity. “They’re not all for me, are they?” I asked, pointing to the instruments. He laughed a hearty gut laugh and his face crinkled up in the most infectious way and soon I was laughing too. “This will be the least invasive procedure you’ve ever felt” he smiled and I instantly believed him.

His movements were precise, yet fluid. There was not a moment’s hesitation in anything he did. Although totally focused and engaged, he also exuded a playful lightness of being. I could feel he absolutely loved what he did. It was extremely comforting.

The procedure was indeed the most skilled and least traumatic I have ever experienced. True to his word, I did not bruise nor swell and today I am sitting here wondering about the luminosity of such blessed beings, the one’s that brighten our lives with their love and light.

The Luminous I. We are all Light. In believing that we are, we shine.
